Elegant Spaces was created in response to a problem we could see clearly in the residential construction industry — and a belief that there had to be a better way to deliver tiling at scale.
Back in 2002, working behind a tile shop counter, we saw the same conversation happen again and again.
A builder would walk in and ask, "Do you know a good tiler?" We would recommend someone, and a few weeks later they would come back — not because the tiler wasn't good, but because they were already booked out.
That pattern repeated itself constantly, and it highlighted a deeper issue: builders were trying to scale their businesses using a subcontractor model that simply couldn't scale with them.
"Do you know a good tiler?"
The same question, from builder after builder, year after year. Not a problem with the tilers — a problem with the model. That single question planted the seed for everything Elegant Spaces became.
Builders were trying to grow their businesses, but the tiling model wasn't built for growth. The same three problems kept appearing, on every site, for every builder.
Builders were relying on different tilers across different jobs, making it difficult to achieve consistency from one project to the next.
Even good tilers were often unavailable when builders needed them, creating delays and limiting a builder's ability to keep projects moving.
Scope, scheduling, communication, and follow-up often sat with the builder — adding pressure to project managers and site teams who already had enough to manage.
Instead of building another tiling business around individual installers, we set out to build something more structured.
Elegant Spaces was designed to operate as a coordinated tiling division that could integrate into a builder's workflow — with clearer quoting, better job setup, stronger communication, and more reliable delivery across multiple homes.
The goal was simple: give builders a tiling partner that could grow with them.
Accurate scopes prepared before work begins — no surprises, no reinterpretation on site.
Materials, scheduling and sequencing coordinated centrally so crews arrive prepared every time.
One point of contact managing updates, progress, and issues — not the builder's site team.
A system built to perform consistently across multiple sites and projects at the same time.
Every stage of Elegant Spaces was shaped by what builders actually needed — not what the industry had always done.
Seeing builders repeatedly struggle to find tilers with the capacity to support their growth.
Recognising that the traditional subcontractor model was not built for production builders delivering multiple homes.
Creating a tiling business built around structure, accountability, and builder-aligned delivery from day one.
One coordinated system managing tiling delivery from scope through to completion — built for builders at scale.
Today, Elegant Spaces operates as a structured tiling delivery partner for group home builders and developers across Auckland and Northland.
Through our systems and the Tiling Hub, builders don't just engage a tiler — they plug into a coordinated process that manages the tiling scope from planning through to completion.
Plans are reviewed, scopes are clarified, materials are coordinated, and installations are delivered through one integrated operational model designed to support builders delivering at scale.
If you are delivering multiple homes and looking for a tiling partner with more structure, clearer communication, and a system built to scale — we'd love to show you how we work.
